SARTELL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team used three victories in doubles to come away with a 6-3 win over Martin Luther College on Wednesday afternoon. The result leaves the Cougars at 3-4 (2-1 UMAC) on the season.
Three wins in each of the doubles matches proved vital in the match for Minnesota Morris.
Kiley Rodarmel and
Allison Bruhn notched an 8-3 win at No. 1,
Abby Burquest and
Valerie Gall posted an 8-2 win at No. 2, and
Megan Arens and
Marybeth Tautges combined for an 8-4 win at No. 3.
From there, the Cougars and the Knights split the six singles matches down the middle. Rodarmel finished her day with a 6-0, 7-5 victory in the No. 1 singles match. Burquest came from a set down to win at No. 2, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Gall also triumphed at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-1 decision.
Minnesota Morris is back at the Sta-Fit in Sartell tomorrow at 12 p.m. to face Crown College.
