MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to the University of Northwestern on Tuesday, falling to 2-7 (1-5 UMAC).
In the first true home match of the season for the Cougars, Northwestern cruised through doubles with a pair of 8-0 wins at Nos. 1 and 2. In the No. 3 match,
Will Marsan and
Max Gmuender gave some resistance in an 8-3 defeat.
In singles play,
Clayton Klema put up the best fight at No. 2 singles. Klema ultimately fell to Jacob Weddle, 4-6, 4-6. No other Cougar player won more than one game in a set as Northwestern finished off the sweep.
Minnesota Morris will be back in action tomorrow morning at the Morris Tennis Courts against Crown College starting at 9 a.m.
