MANKATO, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's tennis team dropped a UMAC matchup to Bethany Lutheran College on Sunday, 8-1. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 2-10 (1-8 UMAC) on the season.
Despite an 8-5 win from
Carver Hammond and
Will Marsan at No. 2 doubles, the Cougars faced an uphill climb as Bethany Lutheran took both the Nos. 1 and 3 matches at love to go on top, 2-1.
The Vikings continued to control the match in singles play.
Matt Gearou (No. 1),
Clayton Klema (No. 2), and
Max Gmuender (No. 5) all fell by a score of 0-6, 0-6 as BLC wrapped up the victories. Marsan took one game at No. 4, but fell by a score of 1-6, 0-6.
Muthu Meenakshisundaram took one game in each set, but took a 1-6, 1-6 setback at No. 6. The closest singles match of the day was at No. 3, where Hammond went to a third set with Caue Ribeiro before falling short, 6-1, 4-6, 1-6.
Minnesota Morris concludes the regular season tomorrow in New Ulm, facing Martin Luther College at 3 p.m.
