RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team fell behind early and struggled to contain the University of Wisconsin-River Falls throughout the match, losing 11-0 to the Falcons.
UW-River Falls burst out to a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes, scoring in the eighth, 10th, and 20th minutes. The match stayed there for most of the remainder of the first half and
Kim Peters was able to get off a shot that required a tough save in the 37th minute before the Falcons added one more before halftime to take a 4-0 lead at the break.
The UW-River Falls offense really got rolling early in the second half. The Falcons scored in the 47th and 50th minutes to push the match fully out of reach. Another goal in the 54th minute made it 7-0 as Minnesota Morris switched out goalkeepers the rest of the way. That didn't do much to deter the UWRF attack, with its final tallies coming in the 57th, 61st, 71st, and 90th minutes. Madyson Shew had a hat trick on the afternoon and Lexi Peterson added two goals.
Peters finished with two shots in the match, while
Bella Toth and
Kayla Nelson each had one.

Minnesota Morris will try to right the ship on Saturday, hosting St. Catherine University at Cougar Field starting at 1 p.m.
