Minnesota Morris took a commanding lead halfway through the game with a 27-16 lead from shots both in the paint and around the arch. The Cougars ball movement resulted in points from multiple players, but it was a rebound put-back from James Hughes followed by a triple from Gustav Gunderson that gave Minnesota Morris a sixteen point lead with 8:45 left in the half. The Wolfpack knocked down a three to kick off a 19-8 run. The Cougars were not able to stop the momentum, and Oak Hills was able to close the gap to 38-40 heading into halftime.
