Thirteen Football Players Earn All-UMAC Honors

MORRIS, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference has released the Football All-Conference Teams, which features thirteen athletes from the University of Minnesota Morris. 

Izayah Boss, a senior from Bothell, Wash., earned a place as a First Team Offensive player this season. Boss rushed for an impressive total of 1,190 yards on the season, averaging 119 yards per game and scoring twelve touchdowns for Minnesota Morris. He also racked up 152 receiving yards and 165 yards on kick returns over the season. Ethan Tang, a senior from Watertown, Minn., was the second Cougar to find a home on First Team All-Conference as an offensive player. He hauled in a total of 37 passes on the year for 496 yards. Tang scored four touchdowns for the Cougars on the season. Christian Diederich, a senior hailing from Murdock, Minn., was also recognized as a First Team All-Conference player. Diederich played on the offensive line in all ten games for Minnesota Morris. His work as part of the "Morris Moving Company" was a vital part of the Cougar's season.

A senior from Boissevain, Man., Carter Maurice earned a place as a First Team Defensive player for the Cougars. Maurice played in all ten games as a defensive lineman for Minnesota Morris, totaling up 55 tackles and making 18 tackles for loss. He also completed 4.5 sacks for 20 yards of loss on the season. Maurice also made 3 fumble recoveries, seven quarterback hurries, four pass breakups and a blocked kick this season. Alex Emmrich, a senior from Rogers, Minn., took home both First Team Defensive honors and First Team Special Teams honors this season. On the defensive side of the ball, Emmrich totaled up 83 tackles and four tackles for loss on the season. He forced a fumble and made a fumble recovery in addition to two quarterback hurries. 

As a Special Teams player, Emmrich was the long-snapper for the Cougars. His performance in that position earned him a spot as Special Teams First Team All-Conference. Jacob Miranda, a junior from Albuquerque, N.M., earned a place on the Special Teams All-UMAC list for his kick return performance this season. Miranda totaled up 626 yards in 26 return attempts for Minnesota Morris, with the longest one being 54 yards. 

Cole Mitchell, a senior from Snohomish, Wash., earned his place as an offensive player on the Second Team All-Conference. Mitchell made twelve receptions on the season for 176 yards. He scored four touchdowns for Minnesota Morris on the year. Mitchell Foss, a senior from Foley, Minn., and Victor Lopez, a senior from Houston, Texas, were also awarded Second Team Honors. Playing in ten and nine games respectively, the two offensive lineman moved the ball up the field as part of the "Morris Moving Company". 

Chayce Meyer, a junior from Osakis, Minn., earned a place as a Second Team Defensive All-Conference player. He made 48 tackles on the year, including 11 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks for forty yards of loss. He made a fumble recovery to run back an 88 yard touchdown, and forced seven QB hurries, two pass breakups, and a blocked kick on the season. Gregory Ohman, a junior from Lake Nebagamon, Wis., made 56 total tackles on the season, including 3.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He also forced two quarterback hurries on the year. Juan "JT" Garza, a sophomore from Rupert, Idaho, is the third Cougar to be recognized for Second Team All-Conference Defense. Garza made 28 tackles this season with 2.5 tackles for loss. He forced a fumble, and had a pair of both pass breakups and blocked kicks. Garza made an interception on the season as well. Tayven Penninger, a senior from Billings, Mont., earned both Second Team Defensive and All-Sportsmanship accolades. Penninger made 37 tackles for the Cougars and racked up eleven pass breakups. He also earned a fumble recovery on the season.
