Valerie Gall won a third-set tiebreaker to take a point on Saturday, but the Cougars fell to Saint Mary’s University in non-conference action.

FARGO, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team fell to Saint Mary's University, 8-1, in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars were competitive in doubles play, but the Cardinals managed to take all three points. Kiley Rodarmel and Allison Bruhn fell in the No. 1 match, 8-4. At No. 2, Valerie Gall and Marybeth Tautges were downed, 8-3. Mariah Mireles and Kristen Muller were defeated at No. 3 doubles, 8-1.

Two of the six singles matches on Saturday required a third-set tiebreaker. In the No. 1 match, Rodarmel came up just short against Natalie Peterson, dropping a 6-2, 2-6, 7-10 decision. Gall was able to record a point for Minnesota Morris with a 7-5, 2-6, 13-11 victory over Emily Henderson at No. 2.

The other matches were straight-forward victories for Saint Mary's to close out the win. Bruhn (No. 3) and Ava Weber (No. 6) each lost 2-6, 1-6 matches. Tautges fell at No. 4, 1-6, 1-6. Finally, Muller lost at No. 5 singles, 1-6, 2-6.
