SARTELL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team ended non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon with a 6-3 victory over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in a match held indoors at the Sta-Fit in Sartell. The Cougars pick up their first win of the season and head into UMAC action later this week with a record of 1-8.
Minnesota Morris took two very important points in doubles play with hard-earned wins at Nos. 1 and 3. The team of 
Kiley Rodarmel and 
Allison Bruhn claimed a point at No. 1 with an 8-7(3) win. In the No. 3 match, 
Ava Weber and 
Mariah Mireles gave the Cougars the lead heading into singles via an 8-6 triumph. 
Valerie Gall and 
Marybeth Tautges lost their No. 2 match, 3-8.
Taking a 2-1 lead into singles, Minnesota Morris finished off the win with four more head-to-head victories, including three in straight sets. Gall won her match at No. 2, 6-4, 6-3. 
Kristen Muller had the most decisive win of the afternoon for the Cougars with a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 4. Tautges added a point with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 5. Rounding out the singles wins was Rodarmel in the No. 1 match by a 6-3, 6-7(3), 10-6 score line.
UW-River Falls earned two points in singles play with victories over Bruhn at No. 3 (6-1, 4-6, 1-10) and 
Ava Weber at No. 6 (4-6, 4-6).
Minnesota Morris is back at it on Friday, facing Crown College at 11 a.m. in Waconia, Minn. in the UMAC North Division opener.
