ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team blasted Crown College, 9-0, in the first UMAC match of the season for the Cougars. UMN Morris moves to 2-8 overall and 1-0 in the UMAC.
The rout started in doubles with both the Nos. 2 and 3 Minnesota Morris teams taking 8-0 victories.
Valerie Gall and
Marybeth Tautges teamed up at No. 2, while it was
Ava Weber and
Mariah Mireles at No. 3.
Kiley Rodarmel and
Allison Bruhn likewise had an easy time of it at No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 win.
All six Cougars won their singles matches in straight sets. At No. 1, it was Rodarmel with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Gall notched a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2. In the No. 3 match, Bruhn claimed victory with a 6-1, 6-0 score line.
Kristen Muller reversed that score with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4. Tautges took the No. 5 match, 6-0, 6-3. Weber finished things off with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6.
Minnesota Morris is next in action on April 13, heading to New Ulm, Minn. to take on Martin Luther College at 1 p.m.
