Ryan McGie was named UMAC Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday following an excellent start to conference play from the Cougar newcomer.Â
In a pair of three-game series against the University of Northwestern and Northland College, McGie helped Minnesota Morris start 4-2 in UMAC play by hitting .483 (14-of-29) for the week, while also drawing two walks for a .516 on-base percentage.Â
Of McGie's 14 hits, six were for extra bases. The transfer from North Iowa Area Community College collected three doubles, a triple, and two home runs, driving in 11 runs and scoring eight times.Â
Minnesota Morris takes a quick break from conference play to travel to Saint John's University on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. before coming back to Chizek Field on Friday and Saturday for a three-game set with Martin Luther College.Â
