Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Takes Tough Loss on the Road

WINONA, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris Men's Soccer team finished up their first weekend on the road with a match-up against Saint Mary's University. The Cougars took a 0-3 loss on the day.

The Cardinals attempted to make their mark on the board early, firing shots on goal by the first minute of the game. Nick Issensee was busy in the net for the Cougars, keeping Saint Mary's from burying a shot. Minnesota Morris started to take shots at the 20th minute mark, but they were unable to find the net. The Cardinals eventually snuck a shot into the Cougar net at the 43rd minute, putting Saint Mary's up 1-0 heading into halftime.

The second half scoring started early for the Cardinals in the 50th minute of play. Down 2-0, the Cougars continued to take shots on the Saint Mary's goal. Despite having 6 shot attempts in the half, Minnesota Morris was unable to respond to the Cardinal goals. The last goal of the match for Saint Mary's happened in the 88th minute of play, when a last ditch effort to score found the back of the net.

Aaron Mackall led the Cougars with 4 shot attempts on the day, followed by Whitaker Root and Burke Sheppard who took two shots apiece. Cooper Jones and Sheppard were the only Cougars to have shots on goal with one each.

The Cougars will take the road again on Tuesday the 10th at 5pm for a match-up against Saint John's University.
