MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris volleyball team will take a break from Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action this week as they host the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday at 3 p.m. at James Gremmels Court.

Last week, the Cougars went 1-1 in UMAC play, sweeping North Central University 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-21), before falling to (RV) University of Northwestern 3-0. Over the weekend,
Mary Cate Ziembiec and
Bella Nelson led the offensive attack, totaling 21 and 18 kills, respectively.
Clara Holden contributed 21 assists in each match, while
Lexi Coon recorded 30 digs.
Ziembiec leads the Cougar offense this season with 140 kills, averaging 2.55 per set. She is followed by
Ella Johnson with 113 and Nelson with 108. Holden and
Allison Dornseif direct the offense, with Holden tallying a team-high 328 assists and Dornseif adding 162. Minnesota Morris continues to lead the UMAC in service aces, averaging 2.32 per set. Holden ranks second in the conference with 34 aces.
On defense, Coon has registered 257 digs, which ranks second in the UMAC and averages out to 4.28 digs per set. Ziembiec and Holden follow with 165 and 163 digs, respectively, while Johnson also contributes with 147. At the net,
Tori Scheler leads the team with 39 blocks (7 solo, 32 assisted).
Braxtyn Meyer has added 23, and Ziembiec rounds out the top three with 21.
St. Scholastica enters Saturday's match with an 11-7 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). The Saints are riding a three-match winning streak, most recently sweeping the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Head coach Chelsea Meierotto is in her third season leading the program.
Offensively, CSS is led by Lindsey Baribeau with 196 kills, followed by Ava Swangstue with 170. Natalie Yackley runs the offense with a team-high 666 assists. Defensively, Baribeau also leads the team in blocks with 67.
