MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris football team looks to stay undefeated in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) as they host the University of Northwestern on Saturday at Big Cat Stadium.

The Cougars improved to 2-0 in the UMAC after defeating Westminster College, 30–27.
Logan Ahlers kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired, earning him UMAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Chayce Meyer also had a standout game, recording a career-high four sacks, earning UMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors and a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week. Offensively,
Bryson Drake totaled 166 passing yards, 67 rushing yards, one passing touchdown, and one rushing touchdown. On the ground,
Sean-Keley Chinanga rushed for 92 yards and two scores.

Drake has totaled 448 passing yards in his sophomore season with five touchdowns. On the ground, he has picked up 171 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Chinanga and
Oscar Weah Jr. have gained 365 and 226 rushing yards, respectively.
Carter Watnaas has totaled 256 receiving yards and leads the team with three receiving touchdowns.

On defense,
Gregory Ohman leads the Cougars with 54 tackles, followed by
Arian Saenz with 51. UMM has registered 16 sacks this season, with Meyer accounting for 6.5. Ohman and
Dylan Young have added three sacks each. The Minnesota Morris defense has forced nine takeaways—six fumbles and three interceptions.
Dino Villalobos and
Brenton Overall lead the team with two forced fumbles apiece, while
Juan "JT" Garza III, Meyer, and
Jackson Viemeister each have one interception.

Trever Cockerill leads the UMAC in punting, averaging 41.7 yards per punt. In his first season, he has totaled 833 yards, including a long of 62 yards, four punts over 50 yards, and six kicks inside the 20. Christian Davies and Ahlers have each made one field goal this season. In the return game, Garza is averaging 21.86 yards per return, with his longest totaling 36 yards.

Northwestern enters the weekend with an overall record of 0–5 and 0–2 in conference play. Last week, the Eagles fell to Greenville University, 23–20. UNW was led by Basil Demco with 172 passing yards and two touchdowns. Northwestern tied the game in the fourth quarter, but a GU field goal sealed the win.

This season, Demco has totaled 479 passing yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions. Junior Ashton Lofton has tallied a team-high 132 rushing yards, with Keaton Sargent close behind at 93 yards and one touchdown. Braeden Little and Trey Ulmer lead the receiving corps with 244 and 235 yards, respectively.

The defense is led by Austin Ahrendt with 45 tackles, with Ian Ahrendt close behind at 42. The Eagles have recorded one sack this season, coming from Michael Montoya. UNW has caused six turnovers—four interceptions and two fumble recoveries. The most recent takeaway came from an interception by Alex Schultz.

Last season, the Eagles defeated the Cougars 44–13 in St. Paul, Minn., and lead the all-time series 16–5.
