Men’s Soccer Drops Final Home Game to UW-Superior

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team was defeated by the University of Wisconsin-Superior, 4-0, in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon in Morris, Minn.

The Yellowjackets improve to 12-5 overall and 10-0 in the UMAC, while the Cougars fall to 5-8-3 overall and 3-5-2 in conference play.

Goalkeeper Nick Isensee was tested early, making two saves in the opening two minutes. However, the Yellowjackets broke through one minute later to take an early lead. Much of the first half was played in the Cougars' defensive half, but the back line held strong to keep the score 1-0 at halftime.

Minnesota Morris continued to defend well through the opening 15 minutes of the second half before UW-Superior added two goals in a two-minute span to extend its advantage. In the final five minutes, Jake Anargyros recorded the Cougars' first shot on goal, but it was saved. The Yellowjackets added one more goal in the closing minutes to seal the 4-0 result.

Anargyros registered the team's lone shot on target, while Azariah Zappetta and Aaron Mackall each added a shot off frame. Isensee finished the afternoon with nine saves in goal.

Minnesota Morris begins the final week of the regular season on Wednesday, traveling to North Central University for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
