MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team tied North Central University, 1-1, in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play Tuesday afternoon in Minneapolis. The draw moves UMM into fourth place in the UMAC standings, keeping them inside the playoff picture.

The result brings the Cougars to 5-10-3 overall and 4-5-2 in the UMAC, while the Rams move to 1-12-2 overall and 0-9-2 in conference play.

"In a game where we had the majority of possession, and outshot the opposition 35-4, it is disappointing to come away with a tie," said head coach
Emma Morris. "But at the same time, a point does put us into the playoffs at this moment in time. We have to hope some games go our way this week, and take it to Northwestern on Saturday. We've shown what we can do in moments and in certain games, but we need to be more consistent."Â
Bella Toth recorded the first shot of the game with a low-driven attempt but was denied an early goal. The Cougars generated the best opportunity in the first 30 minutes when they were awarded a corner kick.
Talalupe Levale swung the ball into the box and found
Brianna Ganske, but her shot was saved. Off another corner, Toth fired a shot, but the score remained tied.

In the final five minutes of the first half,
CJ Frear-Boerner made a kick save for her first stop of the game. Just a minute later, the Cougars pressed again as Levale's shot was turned away, sending the teams into halftime scoreless.

In the third minute of the second half, Levale sent a square pass to
Malia Totoris at the top of the box, who takes a shot the roofs the keeper for the opening goal of the match. Minnesota Morris continued to push forward, as
Madysen Johnson delivered a free kick into the box. The bouncing ball found
Ziviara Cordova, but her shot was blocked by a defender for a corner kick.

With 17 minutes remaining, Toth found herself in the six-yard box, but her initial shot was blocked and her rebound attempt went wide.
Rourke Nebel fired from distance, but her effort went straight to the keeper. Ganske then broke free for a one-on-one chance, but her shot was saved. On the rebound,
Ashlynn Pollreisz's attempt was blocked by a defender, keeping the score at 1-0.

In the final five minutes, the Rams equalized on a goal from Rhaina Boggess. After the restart, Levale had a look inside the 18-yard box, but her shot sailed over the bar. Pollreisz followed with a close-range effort that was stopped by the keeper. The final horn sounded with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.

Totoris netted her second goal of the season, while Levale recorded her first assist of the year. Cordova also earned an assist on the goall. The Cougars dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Rams 17-2 in shots on goal. Nebel led the team with four shots, while Levale, Ganske, and Pollreisz each added three. Frear-Boerner made one save in the draw.
