Five Cougars Earn All-Conference Honors

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Five members of the University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team earned Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) All-Conference honors, as announced Tuesday, Nov. 11.

"Very proud of our all-conference players, but also full credit to our entire team," said head coach Emma Morris. "We took a huge step forward this year and it's nice to see us represented by 5 individuals. But being a team sport, it takes everyone to achieve both individual and team accolades.

Special shoutout to Bella who has had a tremendous impact in her four seasons, on and off the pitch. It is nice that she can end her collegiate career on a high note with the highest individual award that she's had during her time in the conference. We will miss her leadership, passion, work ethic and dedication to the team and sport. A huge thank you to her for helping to build a great foundation in the future of Cougar women's soccer.

Overall, being such a young team, I'm really excited to watch them continue to grow and move forward on this year's success. "

Senior captain Bella Toth was named to the UMAC All-Conference Second Team. Toth started 18 games and appeared in 19, totaling 1,543 minutes and playing 11 complete matches. She finished the season with seven points on three goals and one assist. Her goals against Crown College and North Central University proved to be game winners.

Junior goalkeeper CJ Frear-Boerner earned UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention. Frear-Boerner started all 20 games for the Cougars, recording five wins—including four shutouts. She finished the season with 121 saves, the third-highest total in the conference.

In her first season with Minnesota Morris, Brianna Ganske led the team in goals, earning UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention. Ganske scored her first collegiate goal in the season opener against Martin Luther College and recorded a two-goal performance at Buena Vista University in a 2-1 victory. The Beaver Dam, Wis., native tallied two game-winning goals and finished her first season with five goals and one assist.

First-year defender Caitlin Lau also earned UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention. Lau led the Cougars in field minutes with 1,786 and started every game this season. She recorded two shots on goal and scored her first collegiate goal in the final game of the regular season at the University of Northwestern.
