MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team begins postseason play on Wednesday at the University of Northwestern in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament Semifinals. The Cougars and Eagles will kick off at 5 p.m. at Reynolds Field in St. Paul, Minn.

Minnesota Morris finished the regular season with a
5-11-3 overall record and a
4-6-2 mark in UMAC play, earning fourth place in the conference and their first postseason berth since 2021. The Cougars closed the final week of the regular season with an 0-1-1 record—first tying North Central University, 1-1, with
Malia Totoris scoring for UMM, and then falling to Northwestern, 4-1, where
Caitlin Lau tallied her first collegiate goal.

Brianna Ganske leads the Cougars with five goals and one assist in her first season with UMM, totaling 11 points. Behind her are
Bella Toth,
Hope Berscheit, and
Rourke Nebel, each with three goals.
Ashlynn Pollreisz holds the team lead with four assists, followed closely by
Ziviara Cordova with three. Junior goalkeeper
CJ Frear-Boerner has started all 19 games, recording 116 saves and four shutouts.

The Eagles finished atop the UMAC standings for the first time since 2017 with a
9-1-2 conference record and a
10-5-3 overall mark. Northwestern ended the regular season on a three-game win streak, most recently defeating Crown College, 2-0, and Minnesota Morris, 4-1. UNW has allowed just five goals in conference play. Haley Mersberger leads the offense with 16 goals, followed by Marie Kendall with 12. In net, Sam Hansen has started all 18 games, posting 68 saves, 10 wins, a .756 save percentage, and six shutouts.

The Cougars and Eagles have met twice this season, with UNW winning both matchups by three goals. Pollreisz led UMM with four shots on goal in the first meeting, but the Cougars were unable to score. The regular season finale at Northwestern saw Lau score the lone Cougar goal.
