MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's and women's track & field teams will open their indoor season on Friday at the Chuck Petersen Open, hosted by Minnesota State University Mankato in Mankato, Minn.

Last season, the men's team finished fifth out of seven teams at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Championship, while the women placed sixth.
 
Sam Gifford, who scored for the Cougars at last year's meet, returns for his junior season. Noah Johnson is coming off a UMAC All-Conference Second Team cross country campaign and looks to carry that momentum into the indoor season. In the throws, Kincade Eisenbacher also returns for his junior year.
 
The women return UMAC All-Conference performers Amaya Willis and Siri Overturf in the throws. Also scoring at last year's Indoor Championship were Nibras Luqman in the 60-meter dash, Sylvia Pesch in the 3000-meter run, Natalie Enright in the shot put, and Lindsey Hause in the high jump.
