MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team suffered a 0-7 loss to St. Catherine University in their 2025 season opener.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead in doubles play with a 6-1 win in No. 1 match and 6-0 wins in Nos. 2 and 3.
Allison Bruhn and
Minami Rikimaru were the No. pairing for the Cougars,
Mariah Mireles and
Ava Weber were the No. 2 pair, and
Jhazlyn Wynne and Katherine Klem were the No. 3 pairing for Minnesota Morris.
St. Catherine continued their sweep in singles play where Bruhn (No. 1) and
Kristen Muller (No. 3) both lost their matches by scores of 0-6, 0-6. Rikimaru (No. 2) fell in matches of 3-6, 3-6 while Mireles (No. 4) lost in 1-6, 0-6.
Katelyn Money (No. 5) and
Marybeth Tautges (No. 6) lost their matches in 0-6, 6-1 and 2-6, 3-6 respectively.
Minnesota Morris will compete again on Feb. 22 in their rescheduled match against Buena Vista University at 2 pm.
