SARTELL, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team faced off against the St. Cloud State University Huskies. The Cougars fell 0-7 to their Division II opponent, struggling to put up points against St. Cloud State.
The Huskies started their sweep in doubles play, taking match Nos. 1 and 3 in a dominant 6-0 shutout. Minnesota Morris was able to take one point in the No. 2 doubles match but fell 1-6. The No. 1 doubles team was made up of
Allison Bruhn and
Kristen Muller,
Mariah Mireles and
Ava Weber made up the No. 2 pairing, and
Marybeth Tautges and Katharine Klem played in the No. 3 match for the Cougars.
St. Cloud State continued their sweep in singles play as Bruhn (No.), Muller (No. 2), and Tautges (No. 3) all fell in 0-6,0-6 matches. Weber (No. 4) and Klem (No. 6) managed to take one point off their opponents to drop 1-6,0-6 matches in singles. Playing at the No. 3 spot, Mireles was able to take two points in the second set to finish 0-6,2-6.
The Cougars will travel to Bemidji State University tomorrow (Feb. 28) for a 4 pm contest against the Beavers.
