SAN DIEGO, Cali. - The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team faced off against Hope International University for their second matchup of spring break. The Royals held the Cougars scoreless, executing a 7-0 sweep.
Hope International got the sweet rolling early in the match, winning the No. 1 doubles match 6-0 and securing Nos. 2 and 3 6-1.
Valerie Gall and
Allison Bruhn made up the No. 1 pairing for the Cougars, while
Marybeth Tautges and
Kristen Muller were the No. 2 pairing. Katherine Kelm and
Jhazlyn Wynne played the No. 3 pairing for Minnesota Morris.
The sweep continued for the Royals in singles play as Bruhn (No. 1) fell 2-6,0-6, Gall (No. 2) faced a 6-1,6-1 loss, and
Mariah Mireles lost 0-6,2-6. Muller (No. 4) and
Ava Weber (No. 5) fell 2-6,1-6 and 1-6,2-6 respectively while
Katelyn Money took four points off of her opponent in sets of 2-6,2-6.
The Cougars will open up conference play April 5 with a home match against Martin Luther College at 2:00 PM.
