Baseball Drops UMAC Opener

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris faced off against Crown College on the road for game one of their three-game series. The Cougars would fall to the Polars in a 2-4 matchup, being unable to score in seven of the nine innings.

Crown opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second inning, but Aidan Moran answered right with a run in the top of the third to even things up. After being hit by a pitch, Moran made his way around the bases and scored on the third play of the inning. The Polars knocked in two runs to take a 3-1 lead at the end of the third. Once again, Minnesota Morris responded with a run to stay in the game. Tyler Motley singled to lead off the fourth inning and, after making his way around the bases, scored on an RBI from Peyton Neadeau. Unfortunately, a run from Crown pushed their lead to 4-2 and the Cougars ran out of answers.

Ashton Pauly, Bradie Black, Ben Meuser, and Motley each had one hit on the day for the Cougar offense while Meuser pulled in 12 putouts for the defense at first base. Black contributed to five outs to aid the defense.
