Men’s Basketball Standouts Earn All-Conference Honors

MORRIS, Minn. - After finishing the season with a 10-4 record in conference play and securing the two seed in the conference tournament, the 2024-25 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Regular Season Co-Champions had two athletes and one coach that secured All-UMAC honors. The University of Minnesota Morris men's basketball head coach Paul Grove earned Coach of the Year, Dom Aguilar found a home on the Second Team All-Conference, and Pal Dak boasts four All-UMAC accolades; Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, First Team and Defensive All-Conference. 

With the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, Coach Grove has wrapped up his 23rd season with the Cougars and has continued to show why he is the winningest coach in men's basketball program history. Grove led Minnesota Morris men's basketball to a 13-13 overall record and a 10-4 UMAC record to take the UMAC regular season co-championship for the first time since 2010-11. 

Dak, a senior guard from Lincoln, Neb., was a key player in the Cougars' success this season and took home some impressive titles; Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, First Team and Defensive Team All-Conference, UMAC Player of the Week (1/7, 2/18). Leading the team in scoring, Dak's 18.8 points per game placed him as the third highest-scoring player in the UMAC and he has rounded out his collegiate career with 1,445 points. He also totaled up 31 steals, 20 blocks, 57 assists, and 156 rebounds (135 defensive) to more than earn his accolades. Dak shot 45.1% from the field, 37.9% from beyond the arc, and 78.5% from the free throw line on the season.

Aguilar, a senior guard from Fergus Falls, Minn., joined the Cougars for his final season of collegiate basketball and made a name for himself in the UMAC as a Second Team All-Conference recipient and Player of the Week (2/11). He averaged 14 points per game on the season to rank tenth in the UMAC in overall scoring. Aguilar shot the ball at a clip of 41% from the field, 36.6% from the three point line, and 86.1% from the free throw line. Totaling 85 rebounds (69 defensive), 66 assists, four blocks, and 20 steals Aguilar was a critical piece for Minnesota Morris this season.

Ian Fahje, a sophomore hailing from Pelican Rapids, Minn., was named as an All-Sportsmanship recipient for the 2024-25 season.
