MORRIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris faced a shutout as the University of Wisconsin-Superior claimed a 7-0 victory. The Cougars' one doubles victory was not enough to overcome their tough opponent.
The sweep started for the Yellowjackets with a 2-1 record in doubles play as they took the No. 1 match 6-3 and the No. 2 match 6-2. The Cougars snagged the No. 3 doubles match with a 6-4 victory. Allison Bruhn and Valerie Gall were the No. 1 pairing, while Marybeth Taurges and Minani Rikimaru made up the No. 2 pairing. The No. 3 pairing was composed of Mariah Mireles and Ava Weber.
UW-Superior kept their shutout going into singles play as they claimed 6-1, 6-0 victories in the Nos. 1, 2, and 4 matches. Gall played in the No. 1 match, Bruhn appeared in the No. 2 match, and Kristen Muller was the No. 4 singles player. Mireles (No. 3) fell in sets of 6-2, 6-0 as Tautges (No. 5) took a 0-6, 1-6 loss. Weber (No. 6) managed to take four games off of her opponent, but still fell 3-6, 1-6.
The Cougars will head to St. Olaf College and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Apr. 19 for their final non-conference matchups of the season.
