SUPERIOR, Wis. - The University of Minnesota Morris fell to the University of Wisconsin - Superior to finish the series 0-3 and move to 5-7 in conference play. The Cougars scored just one run on the day and accumulated five hits in the loss. Minnesota Morris will travel to Bethany Lutheran College Apr. 25-26 to continue UMAC play as the end of the season draws near.
The Yellowjackets drew first blood, to which the Cougars responded with a run from Kendra Schmitz in the second inning to even things up for a brief time. UW-Superior scored again in the second, third, and fourth innings to take a 4-1 lead before a five-run inning in favor of the home team closed the game out in just five innings.
The Cougars' hits on the day came off the bats of Sierra Stevens, Anna Athey, Alyssa Thornton, Schmitz, and Malena Mahoney. Athey and Waabigwan Wagner stole two bases off the Yellowjackets' defense. Thornton collected one strikeout, seven flyouts, and five groundouts from the circle for Minnesota Morris.
