MAUSTON, Wis. - The University of Minnesota Morris recorded two wins against Northland College on the first day of this UMAC series. Minnesota Morris 10, Northland 2

It was the Lumberjacks who opened up the scoring in game one of this matchup, pushing a run across in the bottom of the second inning to get things rolling. Ashton Pauly responded with a run to even things up in the top of the third, but Northland took the lead back with a second run in the bottom of the fifth. From there, the game belonged to the Cougars as they recorded three runs in the sixth and five in the seventh inning to jump out to a 9-2 lead. Tyler Moriarty and Trevor Haberman both scored on the same play in the sixth inning, with Ethan Schmitz crossing home plate shortly after. Haberman cracked open the scoring in the seventh with his second run of the day. Ryan McGie followed his teammate in to score as Schmitz scored his second run of the day after being walked. Minnesota Morris wrapped up the scoring in the seventh with runs from Bradie Black and Pauly to cement the lead. After a two quick one-two-three inning from the Cougar defense, Blake Imhoff used Minnesota Morris' final scoring opportunity to score one more run for the Cougars.

Haberman led the way for his team, going 3-5 at the plate to contribute to the Cougars' eighth hits while scoring two runs. RBIs in this first game came from Black, Ben Meuser, David Steffen, and McGie. The offense also totaled up 12 walks and four stolen bases. On the defensive end of things, McGie earned 12 putouts at first base for the Cougars.
