ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris Football team was picked fourth in the 2025 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Coaches Preseason Poll, announced Thursday.
Â
"I've been very pleased with the development of this team over the course of training camp," stated head coach
Marty Hoffmann. "One of the areas I'm most excited about is how well our young OL is coming together. Having to replace the starting front five from 2024, this current group is very talented and improving each day. Sophomore QB
Bryson Drake is having a great camp and is poised to have a great season. On Defense, we return a strong group of starters from 2024 including 2x Defensive POTY DL
Chayce Meyer, along with All-UMAC LB
Gregory Ohman, and DB
Juan "JT" Garza III. We are excited to get this season started."
Â
Minnesota Morris ended the 2024 season in fourth in the UMAC with a conference record of 4-3. In six games played, Drake led the team in passing yards and touchdowns. The Cougars have three 2024 UMAC All-Conference defenders coming back for the 2025 season: Meyer, Garza III, and Ohman. The trio combined for 132 tackles with Ohman leading with 56 tackles. Meyer led the Cougars with 5.5 sacks and Garza III caused three turnovers with two forced fumbles and an interception.
Â
The Cougars kick off the 2025 season with a road game at Concordia University Chicago on Sept. 6 at 11 a.m.
