MORRIS, Minn. –  The University of Minnesota Morris volleyball team will compete in its fourth tournament of the season at the St. Olaf/Carleton Tournament on Friday in Northfield, Minn. The Cougars will open play against Wartburg College at 5 p.m., followed by a matchup with Carleton College at 7 p.m.

The Cougars had a busy week, playing four matches and finishing 2-2. Their victories came against Concordia College (Minn.) in a 3-2 win and Howard Payne University in a 3-1 match. At the First Responders Tournament,
Clara Holden and
Lexi Coon were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Mary Cate Ziembiec led the offensive effort with 40 kills across the four matches. Holden recorded 85 assists, including a career-high 35 against Concordia. On defense, Coon totaled 60 digs, with two matches featuring 19 each.
Tori Scheler led the team in blocks for the week with seven.

Ziembiec now leads the Cougars in kills this season with 67.
Ella Johnson and
Bella Nelson follow with 64 and 52, respectively. Holden has tallied 157 assists, while
Allison Dornseif has added 92. The Cougars lead the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) with 90 service aces, averaging 2.65 per set.
Braxtyn Meyer leads the conference with 0.65 aces per set, and Holden has a team-high 19 aces.

Defensively,
Lexi Coon has surpassed 100 digs and leads the team with 136, ranking fourth in the UMAC at 4.00 digs per set. Johnson and Holden follow with 88 digs each. Scheler leads the team at the net with 22 total blocks—five solo and 17 assisted.

Wartburg enters the tournament with a 6-3 record after going 1-2 at the Loras Invitational. The Knights defeated Saint Mary's University (Minn.) 3-1, and lost in five sets to both Edgewood College and the University of Wisconsin–River Falls. DeAnn Akins is in her first season as head coach. Sophomore Anna Sash leads the offense with 94 kills and also has 38 blocks. Junior Peyton Robinson anchors the defense with 166 digs. This marks the second meeting between the programs, with Wartburg winning in four sets in 2006.

Carleton holds a 2-8 record and is coming off a 13-13 season. Last week, the Knights went 1-2 at the UWEC Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament, earning a five-set victory over Marian University. Their other win came in five sets against Bethany Lutheran College. Head Coach Abby Walton is in her fourth season. The attack is led by junior Rachel Bingham and senior Sylvia Dixon, with 96 and 87 kills, respectively. Ella Curtis-Revelle leads the team with 128 digs. The Cougars lead the all-time series 5-2, having won the most recent matchup in straight sets last season.
