Cougars Hit the Road for Pair of UMAC Matches

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team hits the road this week for a pair of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) games. The Cougars will face Martin Luther College on Tuesday at 2 p.m., followed by a matchup against the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday, also at 2 p.m.

The Cougars opened UMAC play last week when they hosted Bethany Lutheran College. Minnesota Morris was held scoreless and dropped its first conference game. Jake Anargyros led the team in shots, while Nick Isensee recorded seven saves in goal.
 
Aaron Mackall currently leads the conference with seven goals and has been named UMAC Offensive Player of the Week three times this season. Anargyros leads the UMAC in shots per game, averaging four, and also has a conference-leading three assists. He has also added two goals this season. Theo Bubser and Justin Page have each found the back of the net as well. Isensee has started all seven games in goal for the Cougars, totaling 43 saves.
 
Martin Luther College has started conference play 0-2 and holds an overall record of 0-6-1. Last week, the Knights fell to Crown College, 9-2, and North Central University, 3-0. Joshua Krenke leads MLC with two of the team's four goals, while Silas Gawrisch and Joseph Dretske scored the others. In goal, Nicholas Russ started four games and made 39 saves, while Joshua Kallies started the other three, totaling 33 saves.
 
Reigning UMAC champions UW-Superior are off to a 2-0 start in conference play and are 3-3 overall. Last week, the Yellowjackets defeated North Central, 4-0, and edged Crown, 1-0. Seth Davidson leads the team with three goals, while Jake Kidd and Kyle Massingham have each scored twice. Goalkeeper Patrick Sessions has started four games, recorded 10 saves, and holds a 2-2 record.
