The Cougars opened their season last week with a 5-0 win over Trinity Bible College. Aaron Mackall led the team, scoring twice in the first 10 minutes and assisting on another goal. Following his standout performance, Mackall was named UMAC Offensive Player of the Week. Theo Bubser scored his first goal of the season, and Justin Page netted his first collegiate goal in the victory.

The UMM defense was dominant, not allowing a single shot throughout the match. Captain Cade Simonson anchored the back line, while goalkeeper Nick Isensee earned his first win of the season without facing a shot.

This is Jamestown's first season competing in NCAA Division II after moving from the NAIA. Last season, the Jimmies recorded a 3-9-3 record. They begin their 2025 campaign against the Cougars. This marks the second meeting between the two programs; UMM won the previous matchup 3-1 in 2007. Sophomore Jake Simson led Jamestown last season with 10 goals.

Buena Vista enters the week with a 1-1 record to start the 2025 season. The Beavers defeated Martin Luther College 2-1 before falling 1-0 to Blackburn College. This will be the third meeting between the teams, with UMM winning the most recent contest 1-0 in 2019 and holding a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series. Andres Gonzalez and Caleb Swanson have scored both of BVU's goals this season. Goalkeeper Zachary Sigler has started both games, recording six saves.

Cornell College has started the 2025 season 0-2, falling 5-1 to Wartburg College and 2-1 to Lakeland University. The Rams lead the all-time series against the Cougars 2-0, including a 3-0 win last season. Javier Andrade-Martinez and Justice Toledo have each scored once for Cornell. Goalkeeper Jack Massey has recorded seven saves across two matches.
