ST. PAUL, Minn. – Lexi Coon of the University of Minnesota Morris volleyball team and
Aaron Mackall of the men's soccer team have been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Athletes of the Week for the period of Sept. 22–28, as announced on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Through the first five weeks of the season, Mackall has earned UMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors four times. The Nerstrand, Minn., native is coming off a record-setting week. In a game against Martin Luther College, Mackall scored a program-record four goals in an 8-0 victory. In the following game, he added another goal against the University of Wisconsin–Superior. Mackall currently ranks second in Division III with 12 goals.
Coon has earned her first career UMAC Defensive Player of the Week award. The first-year student-athlete led the Cougar defense with 61 digs, including a career-high 24 against Bethany Lutheran College. The Fond du Lac, Wis., native anchored the defense, helping the team to a 2-1 start in conference play. Coon is the first Cougar volleyball player to earn UMAC Athlete of the Week honors since the 2023 season.
The men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday as they host the University of Northwestern at 2 p.m. at Cougar Field.
The volleyball team plays next on Oct. 3, continuing UMAC play by hosting North Central University at 7 p.m. on James Gremmels Court.
