Men’s Soccer Blanks Rams in 3-0 Win

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team defeated North Central University 3-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday evening in Morris, Minn.
 
The Cougars improve to 4-4-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference, while the Rams fall to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in the UMAC.
 
Dutch Bullock was tested early, making his first save in the third minute. Angle "Bam" Perez Leon recorded the first Cougar shot, with Theo Bubser following. Wilbur Reed fired a shot that deflected off the keeper, with Charlie Adams collecting the rebound and slotting home the shot. The Cougars held the 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
Coming out of halftime, Adams fired a shot less than two minutes in. Minnesota Morris kept the pressure up, with Perez Leon, Luis Mendez, and Karson Busch all recording shots. A Rams attacker found himself one-on-one with Bullock. The sophomore keeper made a great save to keep UMM on top. Justin Page made a great run with the ball all the way to the goal line and sent in a cross to Mendez, who pushed the lead to 2-0. Six minutes later, Cade Simonson scored his first goal of the season, sealing the 3-0 win.
 
Mendez scored his third goal of the season, Adams had his second, and Simonson scored his first. Mendez, Page, and Reed all added a point to their season totals with an assist. The Cougars outshot the Rams 15-11. Perez Leon led the team in shots with four. Mendez and Adams had a team-leading two shots on target. Bullock made five saves in the shutout win.
 
The Cougars host Crown College on Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
