MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris baseball team gets the 2026 season underway on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Martin Luther College starting at 9 a.m. The Cougars and Knights will play two seven-inning games at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Cougars are coming off a 17-21 season and finished fourth in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with a 13-8 record. In the UMAC Preseason Coaches Poll, Minnesota Morris was selected third. Head Coach
Matt O'Brien is in his seventh season at UMM. In each of the last three seasons, the single-season home run record has been broken, with all three record-holders returning this year:
Ryan McGie,
Ben Meuser, and
Trevor Haberman.
Breckin Silvain and
Parker Gilchrist are closing in on 100 career strikeouts.
Bradie Black also returns for the Cougars after being named UMAC All-Conference First Team.

Martin Luther is coming off a 9-27 overall season and finished eighth in the UMAC at 2-19. In the UMAC Preseason Coaches Poll, MLC was selected seventh. Randy Cox is in his 17th season as head coach of the Knights. Parker Winghart led MLC last season, batting .328, with Carlos Walta following at .320. On the mound, Aidan Berg posted a team-low ERA of 4.63 with a 3-6 record.

Last season, the Cougars went 3-0 against the Knights in conference play, winning all three games in seven innings.
