SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's track & field team sits in seventh place after the first day of the UMAC Indoor Championships, hosted by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Friday night in Superior.
Noah Johnson started the track events with a ninth-place finish in the one mile, posting a personal best time of 4:52.99. In the prelims of the 60 meters,
Evan Rydberg led the team with a 13th-place result. In the 5,000 meters,
Ethan Koehler and
Daniel Decory each set personal records.
The relay team of Johnson, Juan "JT" Garza III,
Tyler Franke, and Koehler scored the team's first points in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay. To close out day one on the track,
Sam Gifford, Rydberg,
Christian Davis, and
Bryson Drake placed fifth in the 4x200 relay.
In the field events,
Kincade Eisenbacher paced the Cougars with a ninth-place finish in the weight throw.
Jackson Viemeister also recorded a ninth-place finish in the long jump.
The Cougars conclude the UMAC Indoor Championships tomorrow (Saturday).
