Cougars Wrapped Up Their Games in Florida

Bradie Black recorded the first UMM hit of the contest in the top of the second with a single down the left field line and then stole second. Travis Godfrey started on the mound for UMM and pitched a one-two-three second inning.
 
Caleb Walker and Landen Meyerdirk each reached after being hit by a pitch in the third but were left stranded. The next inning started with Kellan Oligmueller drawing a walk followed by Black singling to put runners on the corners with one out. The Cougars could not break the deadlock as the score remained tied after four innings.
 
The Storm struck first in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring three runs. In the top of the sixth, Ben Meuser had a leadoff single. After a fielder's choice, Peyton Neadeau drew a walk to put two on with one out. A wild pitch advanced Oligmueller and Neadeau 90 feet. Black hit into a fielder's choice but scored Oligmueller for UMM's first run. That would be the final run of the game as the Cougars fell 3-1.
 
Minnesota Morris totaled three hits with Black recording two and Meuser adding the other. Black had the sole RBI as Oligmueller scored the lone run. On the basepaths, Black and Walker each stole a base.
 
Godfrey pitched the full game for the Cougars. He struck out two batters, walked none, and gave up four hits and three earned runs.
 
The Cougars and Storm were scheduled to play another seven-inning game, but weather conditions caused the game to be canceled in the fifth inning.
 
The Cougars start Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play on Friday as they host Crown College at 3 p.m.
