ST. PAUL, Minn. – Breckin Silvain of the University of Minnesota Morris baseball team was named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Pitcher of the Week for the period of March 23–29, as announced Tuesday, March 31.
Silvain closed out a pair of games against Bethany Lutheran College, earning two saves in the series victory. In the first game of the doubleheader, the senior pitcher threw 2.1 innings with four strikeouts, allowing three hits and one earned run. Silvain struck out the final batter to secure a 6-5 victory for the Cougars.
In the following game, the Omaha, Neb., native pitched 1.1 innings, retiring all four batters he faced, with three of the four coming via strikeout. Silvain helped the Cougars win the series against Bethany Lutheran College for the first time in 19 seasons.
The Cougars are scheduled to compete next on Friday against North Central University at home, with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
