MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris baseball team will compete in nine games at the RussMatt Invitational, beginning on March 9 against Beloit College at 9 a.m.

The Cougars started the season 3–1 and last week went 1–1 against Macalester College, falling 4–1 before winning 5–3. In the win,
Ben Meuser,
Landen Meyerdirk, and
Caleb Walker led the team with two hits each. Meuser had two RBIs, while Meyerdirk and
Peyton Neadeau drove in one run each. On the mound,
Travis Godfrey pitched five innings with nine strikeouts, one walk, and one earned run.
Johnny Lopez earned the win, pitching 0.2 innings and striking out two batters, while
Luke McHugh earned a save by pitching the final inning.

Meuser leads the team, batting .500 with seven hits, two doubles, and one triple.
Bradie Black,
Tyler Moriarty,
Aidan Moran, and Walker follow, each batting .400. Meuser leads the team with five RBIs, while Moriarty has scored a team-high five runs.

Among qualified pitchers, Godfrey leads the team with a 0.78 ERA over nine innings pitched and has 13 strikeouts. McHugh, Lopez, and
Kellan Oligmueller have not allowed an earned run.
