MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris baseball team continues Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action this weekend by traveling to the University of Northwestern for a three-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. The Cougars will then play a nonconference game Sunday at Bethel University at 1 p.m.

The last time the Cougars competed was March 29, when they went 2-1 against Bethany Lutheran College, winning the series for the first time in 19 seasons. In the doubleheader,
Breckin Silvain earned a pair of saves, including striking out three of the four batters he faced in game two. Offensively,
Ben Meuser led the team with seven hits, including going 4-for-4 in the series opener.
Following his performance two weeks ago, Meuser leads the conference with a .438 batting average. He has totaled 28 hits, six doubles, two triples, two home runs, 22 RBIs, 10 runs, and 12 walks.
Landen Meyerdirk follows with a .328 average and a team-high 22 runs scored. As a team, UMM leads the conference with 54 stolen bases. Meyerdirk leads the UMAC with 19, while
Tyler Moriarty and
Bradie Black are also in double digits with 10 each.
On the mound,
Travis Godfrey leads the team with a 3.73 ERA through 31.1 innings pitched. He has thrown one complete game and recorded 27 strikeouts. Silvain leads the conference in saves with four and has pitched 15.2 innings with 15 strikeouts.
Northwestern is 9-12 overall with a 7-2 UMAC record to lead the conference. The Eagles competed in a three-game series earlier this week, going 3-0 against Crown College, including a 17-7 win in the series finale. Jesse Eikum is in his third season as head coach at UNW. Davis Winter leads the Eagles with a .395 batting average and 32 hits, while Dreyer Homan holds a team-best 3.44 ERA with 43 strikeouts.
Bethel holds a 17-6 overall record. In its last outing, the Royals split a series with Macalester College, dropping game one 6-5 before bouncing back to take game two 18-4. Brian Raabe is in his 15th season as head coach. Hayden Sperbeck leads the offense with a .412 batting average, 23 RBIs, and 29 runs scored. Drew Girtz holds a 2-0 record with a 1.93 ERA and 28 strikeouts.
