MORRIS, Minn. – Landen Meyerdirk of the University of Minnesota Morris baseball team earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Region IX All-Defensive Team honors, as announced on June 18.
Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for amateur baseball coaches. Its more than 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 41 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, the association's membership has expanded to include nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II, and III; NAIA; NJCAA; Pacific Association Division; High School; Youth; and Travel.
Meyerdirk becomes the first Minnesota Morris player to earn the honor since the award was established in 2023 and just the second athlete from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference to be recognized. Meyerdirk was perfect in the outfield during his junior season. Over 103 chances, he recorded 99 putouts and four assists without committing an error. In the UMAC he had the most chances while holding a 1.000 fielding percentage.
