MOORHEAD, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team scored in the opening two minutes of the game but fell 6-2 to Concordia College (Minn.) Tuesday afternoon in Moorhead, Minn.
The Cougars started fast. Inside two minutes,
Amiah LaFrinier sent in a corner kick, and the bouncing ball found the back of the net to put UMM up early. The Cobbers responded quickly, netting two goals in the first 10 minutes to take their first lead of the game.
Rylie Lovec would bring things level 10 minutes later with a low-driven shot that found the far corner. Concordia would add a third goal before halftime to take a one-goal lead into the break.
The Cobbers added a quick goal to start the second half.
Ashlynn Pollreisz had two chances from deep, with one hitting the crossbar. The Cobbers added two more goals on the counterattack to finish the game.
Lovec scored her first collegiate goal in the season opener, while
Brianna Ganske assisted on the goal for her first point of the season. In her collegiate debut,
Gracelin Challeen added a shot on target.
CJ Frear-Boerner started in net and made two saves.
Abby Stewart entered in the first half and made four saves.
Minnesota Morris continues its road trip at Hamline University on Friday with a 5 p.m. kickoff.
