MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team will be on the road for two games this weekend. The Cougars first travel to Hamline University for a 4 p.m. game on Friday, followed by a 1 p.m. kickoff at the College of St. Benedict on Sunday.

Last week, the Cougars were originally scheduled to play three games, but due to weather, only one was played. In the opening game of the season, UMN Morris traveled to Moorhead, Minn., to take on Concordia College. Minnesota Morris struck first in the opening two minutes after a corner kick by Amiah LaFrinier took a deflection off a defender and found the back of the net. Rylie Lovec scored her first career goal to level the game at 2-2. The Cobbers would find the net again to win the opening game of the season. CJ Frear-Boerner started in net and made two saves, while Abby Stewart entered later and made four saves.
 
Hamline started the season 3-0 with wins over Coe College, 1-0; Bethany Lutheran College, 4-0; and North Central University, 3-0. The head coach for the Pipers is Michael Prunty, who is in his fifth season. Addyson Barrett leads the team in scoring with three of the team's eight goals. HU has split time between its five goaltenders, with Sharis Garcia starting two games and Brianna Thompson starting the other one.
 
St. Benedict has also started 3-0 with wins over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, 3-1; Wartburg College, 2-1; and Central College, 3-0. Steve Kimble enters his 18th season with the Bennies. Eva Gower leads the team in scoring with two goals, while six other athletes have found the back of the net this season. Rhianna Anya has started two games in net, with Anna Mollenhauer starting the other one.
