MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris football team travels to Mayville State University for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday in Mayville, N.D.

The Cougars started the season by hosting Concordia University Chicago. In the game, Arian Saenz led the defense with 13 tackles and one interception to earn Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. Dylan Young, Derrick Dohmen, and Jesse Davies Jr. all recorded sacks in the season opener.
 
Bryson Drake entered the game at quarterback in the second quarter and recorded 192 passing yards and three touchdowns. Manny Guy caught two touchdown passes and finished with 55 receiving yards, while Jacob Wilmes caught the other touchdown pass. Tyler Monson led the ground game with 33 rushing yards, including a long of 23 yards. Juan "JT" Garza III had five kickoff returns for 157 yards, including a 69-yard return that set up a Cougar touchdown.
 
Mayville State started the season 1-1, winning its season opener 29-22 against Briar Cliff University before falling to Oklahoma Panhandle State University, 30-17, last week. Head coach Rocky Larson is in his seventh season leading the program.
 
Matt Donovan leads the Comets with 184 passing yards and one touchdown. He also leads the team in rushing with 176 yards. Montana Jorgenson paces the defense with 13 tackles. The Comets have recorded five sacks and one interception, which was made by Dior Evans.
