Men’s Soccer Drops Home Game to UW-River Falls

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team was bested by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in Morris, Minn.

The win improves the Falcons to 2-2-1, while the Cougars fall to 1-2-1.

The Falcons struck first in the 14th minute. Soon after, the Cougars recorded their first shot from Angel "Bam" Perez Leon, but his shot went over the bar. A miscommunication by the Cougar defense led to another UWRF goal in the 27th minute. Luis Mendez and Brett Bartkowicz each had a shot on goal but could not beat the keeper. The Falcons added their third goal on a successful penalty kick to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Both teams had chances in the second half, but neither was able to convert. Jake Anargyros and Jean-Patrick Koko had shots in quick succession, but the Cougars remained scoreless. Minnesota Morris had a few cracks at the net, but the game finished 3-0.

The Cougars totaled 14 shots, with five on goal. Most of the shots off target came from long range and went over the bar. Koko had the most shots on target for UMM with two. Dutch Bullock started in net and made three saves.

The Cougars begin Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action on Wednesday as they travel to Bethany Lutheran College for a 7 p.m. game.
