MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris volleyball team will play three matches this weekend as it hosts the Minnesota Morris Quad.
 
The Cougars will play their opening match at 3 p.m. against Martin Luther College on Friday. The match will be an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference contest. Minnesota Morris will then play Buena Vista University and Concordia College (Minn.) on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

The Cougars have started the season 4-2 after going 2-1 last week at the St. Paul Classic. The sole loss came in five sets against Carleton College. The Cougars defeated Augsburg University 3-1 and swept Macalester College to wrap up the classic. Sella Fleming tallied 110 assists over the weekend to earn her second consecutive UMAC Setter of the Week award. Bella Nelson led the attack with 33 kills, while Tori Scheler totaled a team-leading 12 blocks.
 
This season, UMN Morris is hitting .181, with Ella Johnson and Natalie Wahl leading the team with 63 kills each. Nelson is not far behind with 60, while Scheler and Braxtyn Meyer round out the top five with 42 and 40, respectively. Fleming has set up 202 points, leading the UMAC. The Cougars have recorded 40 service aces, with Meyer pacing the team with 11.
 
Defensively, Rachel Bopp has recorded 112 digs to lead the team. Johnson is also in triple digits with 101 early in the season. Wahl and Fleming follow with 62 apiece. At the net, UMN Morris has 34 blocks, with Scheler leading the way with 15. Nelson and Meyer round out the top three with 13 and 11, respectively.
 
Martin Luther enters the weekend with a 1-5 record. Last week, the Knights competed at the Buena Vista Triangular, where they went 1-1, defeating Rockford University 3-0 before falling to Buena Vista University 3-0. Head coach Emma Holzhueter is in her fifth season with the program. Kiara Humann leads the team with 44 kills, with Kenzie Loberger following with 42. Defensively, Anna Kieselhorst has tallied a team-leading 93 digs.
 
Buena Vista is currently undefeated at 7-0, winning all of its matches in straight sets. In its most recent match, the Beavers bested Grinnell College 3-0 on Tuesday. Will Baumann is in his fifth season as the head coach at BVU. Charley Hernandez paces the team with 85 kills, while Kaylee Wray has a team-leading 83 digs.
 
Concordia holds a 4-4 record. The Cobbers last competed on Tuesday, when they defeated Mayville State University in straight sets. Head coach Faith Radermacher is in her eighth season with Concordia. Annie Horan leads the attack with 118 kills. Defensively, Kelsi Martini has totaled 108 digs, while Jenzen Campbell has 25 digs.
