MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team fell to the University of Wisconsin-Superior 6-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday evening in Morris, Minn.
The Cougars had the first shot of the game, with
Patrick Bednarczyk testing the UWS goalkeeper early. Off a corner kick,
Jake Anargyros got a shot off but was unable to beat the keeper. A handball in the box gave the Yellowjackets a penalty kick, which they converted for the opening score. The momentum shifted toward the Yellowjackets, who added another goal before halftime.
Karson Busch recorded the first UMM shot of the second half, but the Cougars remained scoreless. In a span of two minutes, the Yellowjackets doubled their lead.
Cade Simonson put a free kick on target, but the keeper made the save. UW-Superior added two more goals before the final whistle to win 6-0.
The Cougars totaled 10 shots in the game, with five on target. Anargyros led the team with two shots on goal. Bednarczyk, Simonson and
Jean-Patrick Koko also recorded shots on target in the game.
Dutch Bullock made four saves.
The Cougars travel to the University of Northwestern for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday.
