MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team was defeated by St. John's University, 7-0, Friday morning in Morris, Minn.
The win improves the Johnnies' record to 2-0, while the Cougars fall to 1-1.
The Cougars were tested early, with
Dutch Bullock making his first save in the fifth minute.
Chann Piseth had the first shot for UMM, launching it from range, but the keeper was there to make the save. The Johnnies got on the board in the 29th minute. SJU totaled 12 corner kicks in the first half and capitalized on one late in the half to make the score 2-0 after the first 45 minutes.
Less than three minutes into the second half, the Johnnies pushed their lead to three. They continued their momentum for the rest of the game to take the 7-0 victory. The best chance in the second half came on a shot from just outside the 18-yard box by
Justin Page, but it could not get past the keeper.
The Cougars totaled three shots on goal from Page, Piseth, and
Evan Karki. Bullock started the game in net for UMM and made seven saves.
Zander Kuhfeld played the final 15 minutes and made four saves.
The Cougars host Buena Vista University on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. for their next contest.
