Nick Hervin starts his second year on Coach Harding’s staff in 2014 after rejoining the Cougar baseball staff as an assistant coach the Fall of 2012. In 2009, Hervin was a student assistant under then Head Coach Mark Fohl. His primary responsibilities will be as an infielders coach and hitting coach.
Hervin, a native of Cold Spring, MN earned 2 Letters in baseball at ROCORI High School before graduating in 2004.
Hervin was a four-year starter at UMM (‘05-‘08), making 128 starts and appearing in 129 games out of a possible 132 games as an infielder/pitcher. Hervin racked up 150.2 innings pitched in 33 career appearances on the mound. Twenty-eight of those appearances were starts and he went the distance 9 times. At the plate, Hervin batted .350 during his career, highlighted by a .418 average his senior year. He finished his career in the top 10 of multiple offensive categories.
The UMAC coaches voted Hervin to All-Conference teams in each of his four years; twice garnering honorable mention and also twice earning 1st team honors. UMM named him the co-recipient of the Arnold Henjum Scholar Athlete Award in the spring of 2008. The award goes to the most outstanding senior male athlete at UMM.
