Josh Zimmer enters his second season on the Minnesota Morris football coaching staff in 2019. Coach Zimmer is the defensive line coach for the Cougars and is the team’s recruiting coordinator. His primarily recruiting area is Southeastern Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana.

 In his first season with the Cougars in 2018, Zimmer coached Nate Gehlen to First Team All-UMAC honors. During his senior season, Gehlen set the school record in blocked kicks (six) and tackles for loss (43.5). Along withies two school records, Gehlen moved into second all-time at Morris in sacks (15.5). He also coached Carter Wattenhofer, who tied the single-game school record for sacks with three.

Zimmer graduated from Minot State with a bachelor of arts in communications. While at Minot State, Zimmer played defensive line for the Beavers.
