Kevin Burke

Kevin Burke joined the Minnesota Morris football program as associate head coach and offensive coordinator beginning with the 2020 campaign. Following an abbreviated campaign in the spring of 2021, Burke will begin his fourth season with the Cougar football program in the fall of 2023.

A college football coach for three decades, Burke brings extensive NCAA Division III offensive coordinator, offensive line, and quarterback coaching experience to Cougar football. Minnesota Morris has grown into one of the top offenses in the UMAC under his leadership, finishing 24th nationally in rushing yards per game (209.9) in 2022.

Burke led Gettysburg University football as head coach in 2018 and 2019 after serving as the team’s offensive coordinator for the previous 14 seasons. Burke helped Gettysburg become one of the top offensive teams in the Centennial Conference and all of NCAA Division III, leading the conference in total offense five times, rushing offense six times, and passing offense twice. The team finished as high as fourth nationally in total offense and cracked the top 25 nationally in rushing offense six times.

Accolades for Burke’s Gettysburg offenses include 44 offensive All-Conference award winners, a conference offensive player of the year, a first-team All-American, and a complete rewrite of the program’s passing record book. Burke coached six wide receivers who tallied over 1,000 career yards and 10 players who logged over 1,000 career rushing yards.

The teams showed a balanced effort under Burke’s leadership. In a single season one of their quarterbacks threw for over 500 yards in one game and in another the team rushed for over 500 yards. For a five-year span, Gettysburg was one of only four NCAA Division III schools to log an average of over 200 yards per game in the air and also over 200 yards per game rushing.

Burke began his coaching career in fall 1990 at the State University of New York at Stony Brook working with wide receivers. Subsequent coaching opportunities brought Burke to Hamilton College as a secondary coach; Juniata College as offensive coordinator; and Norwich University as offensive coordinator. Burke then returned to Juniata as head coach. While serving as an assistant football coach and offensive coordinator, Burke also held joint appointments as assistant and head track and field head coach and assistant athletic director.

Burke was a two-sport athlete at Gettysburg College, competing in football and track and field. He earned his BA in history from the college. He also holds a MA in liberal studies from the State University of New York at SUNY Stony Brook.
