Heather Pennie wrapped up her sixth season as an assistant coach on the Cougar volleyball staff in 2013, serving alongside head coach Chad Braegelmann.

After guiding the Cougar volleyball program as the head coach for 10 seasons from 1998-2007, Pennie joined Bragelmann’s staff when he took over in 2008. She remains the Cougars’ head softball coach as well as the Athletic Department’s Senior Women’s Administrator.

As the top assistant, Pennie has been part of a staff that has led the resurgence of Cougar volleyball, culminating in a 23-12 campaign just this past season. Over the past two season’s, UMM has seen their overall win record increase from 19 in 2011, to 20 in 2012 and now 23 in 2013.

Pennie won 90 matches during her tenure as head coach, including the programs last conference title. In 2003, she led the maroon and gold to a 20-14 campaign, on their way to the UMAC crown. Her 90 career wins still rank as the program record.

A graduate of Minnesota, Morris, Pennie also holds a masters degree from Northern State University. While at UMM, Pennie was a standout student-athlete, lettering for four years in both volleyball and softball, while also earning Academic All-Conference honors.
